When is a Development Permit required?

- a development permit application should be made any time there is a change in land use. For example, if you are developing a yard site, or proposing to construct a garage or subdividing land for residential or commercial use. A development permit must be approved before a building permit. 

When is a Building Permit required?

- a building permit application should be made any time there is means for construction of a new building over (107.64 ft2). A building permit is a license which grants legal permission to start construction of a building. A building permit helps the public understand what the local and provincial laws are in relation to constructing a building. 

When do I need an Approach Approval?

- an approach approval application should be made any time there is a new access approach to be developed. Approaches will have development standards that can be found in our Approach Policy 300-14 by which the R.M. Representative will determine satisfactory.
